Bio

History and background

Once liegeman to Shaine the Mujhar of Homana, his fate - like that of his race - was sealed when he met the Mujhar's daughter, Lindir. One night, after she refused to marry a prince from a neighbouring country, she and Hale left Homana-mujhar in disguise - Lindir as a servant; Hale as a fox - and from there, spent their lives on the run, while Shaine concocted a story wherein his liegeman had stolen his daughter away from him, and that all Cheysuli were demons and thus sentenced to death wherever they were found.

Years later, when Hale was dead, Lindir returned to her father, and during that time, gave birth to a daughter, Alix, who was banished from Shaine's city and castle, and who would motivate Shaine to intensify the qu'mahlin: a purge designed to exterminate the Cheysuli race itself.

Personality

Like all Cheysuli warriors, Hale presents himself as a stalwart personality; rarely showing emotion or anything that might hint at what is on his mind or in his heart. Fierce, and of strong temper, Hale is also deeply loyal to anyone he deems a friend or an ally, and more than willing to do whatever he can to help out another person - regardless of whether or not it is what the individual thinks will help them out; something he found out to his cost much later on in life.

Appearance

Human: Hale is all-Cheysuli, in that he has the characteristic black hair, yellow eyes and tanned skin of his race. Hale also wears an earring in his left ear, as well as an armband made of gold on each arm, both designed to mirror his lir; the earring in shape, the armbands enscribed with the image of his animal around its circumference.

Animal: fox, dark red in colour, almost brown.

Lir's appearance: red fox vixen, silver colour phase.

Special notes.

Anything in italics is either communication between Hale and his lir - which cannot be overheard unless the individual has the Old Blood in them, and thus the gifts that come with it, or is words/phrases in the old tongue, or is written in the old tongue, and can thus only be read/understood by other Cheysuli/people fluent in the language.

Added note as of 10/26/05: It has been decided by this mun that most animals and gods are able to overhear whatever Kya says - either to Hale, to herself, to another lir or whatever is directed at them. After all, the lir bestowed by the gods to the Cheysuli themselves in the Cheysuli's world, so it shouldn't be a stretch for a god of another universe to converse with Kya and other lir.

The character Hale belongs to the Chronicles of the Cheysuli books by Jennifer Roberson.
